The Arboretum is located in Santa Maria de Palautordera, at the foot of the Montseny Natural Park, the only one of Catalonia declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
The Montseny is a biological mosaic that presents a biodiversity so rich and diverse that obliges us not only to preserve it, but also to make it known to promote respect and esteem.
The Arboretum collects a sample of the 80 woody species that spread through the massif and which are a good representation of those in Europe, both in the lower Mediterranean, Central European or in the Nordic countries. In their natural environment it is impossible to contemplate them. That is why Santa Maria de Palautordera has built the Arboretum “La Arboleda del Montseny”, a place to know the woody species of Montseny and to study, respect and love.
